Plot
While I enjoyed this episode, the plot was kind of predictable and felt rushed. The final confrontation with the bad guy happened over less than a minute, there was no kind of resolution concerning his son - no one even explained to the poor boy what as going on - and it didn't feel very satisfying. The man who ended up being the killer wasn't even introduced earlier in the show, he just popped up at the last minute after a hail mary random fingerprint collection. I wasn't terribly impressed, but I wasn't overwhelmingly bored and annoyed either, so I'm rating this episode as average.
Music
Again, very average. The only thing that stood out to me was the absurdly cheerful and whimsical piece playing while a car was fished out of a harbour. Why? I don't know. It was somewhat puzzling. The rest of it was fine, not exceptional, not bad, not detracting from or adding significantly to the episode. (All music adds something, of course, and often you don't realise how much it adds until it's gone - but then there is music that overwhelmingly changes the scene in a beautiful, haunting, amazing way and that's what I'm referring to.)
Acting
Perfectly fine, I didn't see any problems with it. One thing did strike me as odd, though, which was Jane's continual mispronounciation of Cailin's name. You would think someone would notice that, right? Like the other actors in the scene, the director, someone? Or that the name would be written on the script and people would pay attention to that and say it right? I don't know how that mistake slipped past - more than once! - but it was very distracting as I then got confused about her name, and then I spent the next several minutes wondering why Maura wasn't correcting her, and then I missed a chunk of plot and had to go back.
Scenery
The same as usual - aerial views of Boston, the precinct, the precinct cafe, the morgue, Maura's house. I did love a particular moment when Frost was shown through the tons of water streaming off the submerged car as it was lifted from its watery grave (damn, I'm poetical this morning) and I thought that was good use of props etc to create an unusual and attractive moment. (But then Frost is always attractive. Shush.)
Sexism
In terms of the main characters there was none, and there were equally annoying hockey parents of both genders, so that was fine too. Nothing bad that I noticed.
