Plot
Honestly, I really didn't enjoy this episode very much. The plot felt slow and dragging and it was almost solely focused on Paddy Doyle, which would have been great if I cared about him. Unfortunately, I don't. I feel that the storylines involving Paddy have been forced to continue for longer than they should have, and it's really getting old. With any luck, this is the last we see of him. None of the scenes were gripping or intense, and it was below what I consider average for a typical crime drama - certainly below the average for this particular show. I was disappointed.
Music
I have to say I did notice a few really good musical moments. Apart from those, though, the music was fairly average. It lent atmosphere to scenes without being obvious, never drowned out dialogue or other sounds but didn't stick in my mind enough to leave me impressed.
Acting
The acting in this one was fairly average too. There weren't any moments which really stood out to me, neither spectacularly good nor incredibly bad.
Scenery
The same as usual on Rizzoli & Isles, which led to a thoroughly confusing moment which placed Cavanaugh in Maura's house for no obvious reason other than it's one of their more well-used sets. The precinct cafe was notably missing, but there was the new addition of the courtroom, which I hope we see again. Just not for Paddy Doyle.
Sexism
Not a lot that I noticed - in fact there was a nice moment which had Jane barging into the men's room and no one even mentioning it - because everyone recognised that police officer trumped gender. I approved of that. However the horrendous 'skirt in the courtroom' issue reared its ugly head and made me angry.
Bechdel Test
1. It includes at least two women, (Yes)
2. who have at least one conversation, (Yes)
3. about something other than a man or men. (Yes)
Three out of three again, which surprises no one. I don't think this show has ever failed. 3/3
